What it does

The whole house, on the phone in your pocket.

Open hunhu and the first page answers the four things you check most.

  • Who is home. And who is not, yet.

  • What needs you. A door left open, someone in the yard at night.

  • Every camera. Its latest snapshot, read on the box.

  • Power today. In kWh and in rand, at your tariff.

The start page, as designed. hunhu runs in your phone’s browser; add it to your home screen.

Cameras

Ask who’s in the driveway.

hunhu answers with a snapshot, read on the box: it tells a visitor from a passing car without a single frame leaving the house. Clips are kept on the box for 14 days, then deleted, and leave it only if you turn on sync. Nothing records around the clock.

Voice

“hunhu, turn off the kitchen light.”

Heard and answered aloud, in the house. Voice can lock a door or close the gate, but never unlock or open them: opening takes an adult, in the app, at home.

Alerts

Someone in the yard at 2 a.m.

Every adult’s phone hears about it. If nobody opens the alert within two minutes, it rings again. The picture stays in the app, never in the message.

Family

Kids get the lights, not the locks.

Adults, children and the wall screen each get their own rights, set by you and enforced by the box: it refuses a child’s account at the locks and the gate. Add quiet hours, a home-by check, or the kids’ wifi off at bedtime where your devices allow it.

Power

See what each thing costs, in rand.

Daily and monthly use for the circuits and devices you measure, at your own tariff, with solar and battery where you have them, and the next load-shedding slot.

Your devices

Works with what Home Assistant supports.

hunhu runs your home through Home Assistant: its lights, plugs, switches, locks and sensors, your outdoor cameras, and what you build yourself with ESPHome.

On the wall

A screen for the whole family.

Hang any tablet or screen you have on the wall and sign it in as the wall screen. It shows the house at a glance and runs the lights. It never works a lock or the gate, and never plays back a camera.
